What Is This?

Can you guess what this is?

It's a water faucet! This faucet has quite a complicated design for a very simple function. I think this can even be mistaken as an art piece. Can you guess how much a faucet like this costs? It's only 660US$. :) That's quite an expensive bathroom or kitchen fixture huh? I think with 660 US$, you can already buy Moen faucet, a kitchen sink with cabinets here.

Yummy Sunday- Favorite Food

l
This is quite a difficult post because I have a favorite food for each cuisine: for Filipino food, Indian Food, Thai Food and etc ( hahaha! bula-us gyd!). But to avoid much confusion and time searching for photos of my favorites. I'll have to post my favorite Thai food. It's called Phat Kra Pao Kai. It's actually a spicy stir friend chicken with basil leaf. If ever you go to Thailand. You should try it and you'll love it.. That is if your a fan of spicy stuff..

and by the way, the drink on the left is also my favorite drink..CHA YEN!!

Internet Moms

I am part of the large group of women who can be called the 'internet moms'. These are the Moms who stay at home but have a part of their earnings from the internet. Whether these Moms are entrepreneurs who are doing an online business or Moms who write online to get paid. But they all have the same thing in common- they earn through the internet and at the same time 'run after their kids'. Do you want to join the club and earn online too? You can send me a message and I would be glad to help you even if my experience is quite limited.

But just recently I've found a site that can also help you earn. You might want to check it out and Sign up for Stable Interest .

Saddened by The Strike of Typhoon Ondoy

I'm currently following the updates of the damages and casualties in the flood caused by Typhoon Ondoy. It has now been reported that there are 46 casualties, more than 1,000 families have evacuated and 30 provinces affected by the flood. As per writing, many people are still stranded and are on top of the roofs while rescue teams are on its way.

I can't help but feel sad for the effects of this disaster. I also can't imagine the plight of those people affected. All I could do is to pray that they will all be safe and well.

"Lord, I pray for these people affected by the flood. Be with them. Comfort them and help them in this time of need. Let them be able to see your Hand in their lives especially at this very desperate moment in the lives. I pray that you specially protect the children and the aged people. In Jesus Name, Amen"

Playhouse Disney

I think I'm having a Playhouse Disney 'overload'. Whatever I'm doing I can either hear the Disney Songs at the back of my head like, "M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E, it's the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse..." or " All Aboard the chuchu train, all aboard the chu chu train.."

Haaay.. This just proves that my li'l ones ( and me?) just had too much of Playhouse Disney over the week long school holiday. I wasn't able to do the activities as planned. But as much as possible, I try to set some reading time, playing time, bicycle time for Tricia so she won't be watching the whole day. Meanwhile my li'l boy can watch cartoons but when he's bored he just do other things as well like play or mess things around. :) They just all love Playhouse Disney. Actually, it's the only channel I allow them to watch since some cartoon channels are geared for big kids and I also don't like some of the 'impolite' language that some of the shows use.

Anyways, my kids would truly get excited if the get to see the 'real' Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck in Disneyland. Hong Kong Disneyland is the nearest Disneyland for those in Asia but I've heard that the best is in Orlando Florida. So, if you're planning to go to Florida this season, you can always get your Disney World Tickets online.

Tricia's Long Prayer

Every night before going to bed, I would gather my little kids ( I only have 2 actually) to sit and pray. My li'l boy would start out by 'praying' with his own language and at times I could her him mention some names like "appa", 'mo Anneh" ( timo Anneh), Anni ( Granny) and end up with "Amen!!". While my little girl would follow with her own prayers.

But one night, I can't help but be amused by my li'l girl's prayer it went on like this.

" Lord, please Appa Lord as he is in Nepal. Let him be okay. Let him not be in trouble. I miss my Appa Lord. But I will see him in 11 days. 11 days take away one and it will be 10 days.. 10 days take away one and it will be 9 days.. 9 days take away one and it will be 8 days, 8 day take away 1 and it will be 7 days, 7 days take away 1 and it will be 6 days. 6 Days take away one and it will be 5 days. 5 days take away 1 and it will be 4 days ( now, with her excitement building up..)!!. 4 days take away one and it will 3 days!!! 3 days take away one and it'll be 2 days!!!! and 2 days ( she's running out of breath now) take away one and it'll be one more day!!!!! And then Appa will come.. Yehey!!! ( While another small voice chiming in, "Yey!".)

WHew!! It was a good thing that Hubby is not away for 100 days or else we could have had an overnight prayer!;)

Slow Connection

I've been noticing that my connection has been slow for the past days. I'm not so sure whether it's because of my internet connection that is slow or my system in my netbook. I think it's really about time to reformat my netbook and 'cleanse' it from all the viruses and unnecessary files and programs. I'll just have to wait for my Hubby to arrive. For the meantime, I have to start saving all the important files in the flashdrives since I don't want to spend for online backup.

Either Too Tired or Too Lazy

I haven't been updating all my blogs lately. It's either I'm too tired to blog after running after my kids all day long or too lazy to blog. But now, I have no choice but to get up and write my posts because I have a lot of online tasks to write. Do I sound like complaining? But, I'm not. All these online tasks would actually mean 'savings' for our upcoming trip next month. I just hope, I would feel more motivated and excited to write my posts.

Portable DVD

My netbook doen't have a dvd rom (obviously) and I have been contemplating of getting a portable dvd rom for it. I've searched some places online ( like Circuit City ) and also here in Malaysia and I found out that a unit costs over 300 RM. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait for cheap 2nd hand units and maybe then I could buy one. It's not a priority for me though, that's why.

Loving Veggies!

No, it not me who loves to eat veggies but my li'l girl. From the very beginning I was not used to eat vegetables, so up until now, I still have to force myself to eat veggies. And since I'm currently doing a diet now, I'm forced to eat fresh vegetables because it's part of the menu.

Then last night, while I was eating my fresh salad, my daughter came up to me and exclaimed, " Oh my favorite!". Then, she ate my salad with me and little did I know she already finished half of it. It's true, my li'l girl really loves veggies. So, I told her that everyday, I'll be eating veggies twice a day. And she asked, " Can you share your vegetables with me?". Of course I can.. my pleasure! ;)

A Tiring Night

It's the second night for Hubby to be away. I tried to put both the kids to sleep early but to no avail, they only slept 2 hours after. I was so tired the whole day taking care and reprimanding my active kids and putting them to sleep for 2 hours made me more tired. So, I also dozed off to sleep with them. I didn't mind my unfinished 'tasks' online anymore but I thought of waking up early and doing them.

Then at 4 am, I woke up. It was really early..but I woke up because of the cry of my li'l boy. His diapers were so wet , so I had to changed it and put him back to sleep. 30 minutes passed, he was still awake, 1 hour passed and his eyes were still opened and looking around..and finally after 2 hours and a half, he slept off. Meanwhile, I didn't have the strength to get up and do my 'tasks'. anymore. So I also slept off. Then after an hour and a half my little boy got up , fully awake and fully energize while I was still so groggy and quite disappointed that I haven't done my 'tasks' yet.

I don't know what happened to my little guy and why he has been sleepless last night, it's either he missed his Appa so much or we need to put extra mattresses for him to sleep comfortably. But I think he misses his Appa. Hopefully, tonight will be different and he'll sleep soundly.

Tuesday Couch Potatoes: Robots/Cyborg Movies

It's time for Tuesday Couch Potatoes! Today's theme is Robots/Cyborg movies. Not actually my type of movies but I have seen quite good ones. One of those movies is the Terminator 1 and 2. I was still quite young when these movies were shown so, I can't remember much of the scenes except for Terminator 2. But I do remember that during the time the Terminator was shown, futuristic movies were not so common and if they were shown, the effects were not so realistic. So, that's why the Terminator really stood out because of it's effects and storyline too.

So, here is the tagline for this movie:

In the Year of Darkness, 2029, the rulers of this planet devised the ultimate plan. They would reshape the Future by changing the Past. The plan required something that felt no pity. No pain. No fear. Something unstoppable. They created 'THE TERMINATOR'

The thing that won't die, in the nightmare that won't end.

That's all for now. And see you next week for the Family Movies at Tuesday Couch Potatoes.

Contest Fan

I'm a certified contest fan now. The other night, I've joined 4 different contests while my Hubby joined quite a few too. Most of the online contest I joined has holiday packages as prizes while my Hubby join contests with electronic gadgets like laptop, digicams and the like as prizes.

I don't know when we could win another contest but as of now , we're just joining all these because they're easy to join ( either you register, vote or answer a few questions) . And as they said, the more you enter, the more chances of winning. :)

By the way, if you're interested for these contests. You can post a comment and I'll give you the sites that hosts contests.

The Umbrella and Scooter Part 2

What the connection between an Umbrella and the scooter? You'll read about the Umbrella HERE.

When my Hubby left for Klang ( and then to Nepal) yesterday, our li'l girl was crying so much. She actually started crying when we prayed for her Appa and refused to let him go. We tried our best to make her stop crying until I thought of something to make her stop. " Appa, isn't you're going to buy a scooter Tricia in Nepal?" I asked my Hubby with a wink. And my Hubby agreed and asked Tricia what color she wanted. Her eyes sparkled as she heard the word 'scooter'. She actually has been asking us to buy a scooter for her since she was 3 years old. THen the other day, we saw a 20 RM scooter in Tesco but we still didn't buy for her.

When asked about her color preference for the scooter. She stopped for awhile (to think) and continued to cry and said in between her tears " ANy color...huhuhuh!". The scooter didn't seem to work to make her stop crying. She still cried even after her Appa already left until she slept off. But when she woke up she was already okay and the first thing she asked when she woke up, " Is Appa really going to buy a scooter for me in Nepal?" and so, you could expect that everytime her Appa calls, she asks about the scooter and she even said, that she dreamt about it last night.
Anyways, at least she has something to look forward to and won't feel so sad that her Appa is going away for so long... " because Appa went to Nepal to buy a scooter!" .. LOL!!

For the meantime, APpa will have to have a lot of challenges of looking for a scooter in Nepal! :)

Ways to Get Motivated

I'm thinking of ways for me to be really motivated to lose my excess weight. I get easily contented with my weight specially if I'm face to face with my fave food even if I'm still so far from my goal weight.

So, I guess I have to continue reading some blog pages of people who are doing their weight loss programs. I'm currently subscribed to sparkpeople.com and what I like about this site is that they truly encourage losing weight the natural way. So, there's no need to do some diet pill reviews since you won't be using them to lose weight.

One thing that I have to think about is being able to wear my clothes comfortably without being conscious of obvious bulges, left and right , front and back. LOL! I just hope I'll truly be motivated enough and determined to lose weight. :)

The Umbrella and Scooter Part 1

Before I left for my Mommy holiday a few weeks ago, I promised my li'l girl that I'll be buying an umbrella for her. She loves umbrellas and I thought that she would really love the painted umbrellas from Chiangmai. And before I left that was the last thing that I told her ( buying an umbrella for her). Day 1 came and when I called, she asked me if I already bought the umbrella for her. She was just so excited for her umbrella and every time I called she never failed to ask me about it.

So, when I was in Chiangmai ( which was already the end of our North Thailand trip) I had to go around the night market to look for a nice painted umbrella for her. Whew! I really made sure to buy the umbrella as promised. And true enough, she was so happy to see her cute pink umbrella with her name painted on it.

So, what's the connection between the Umbrella and the Scooter? .. you can find out later on my next posts.

... the umbrella photo to follow soon..:)

My Thin Girl and My Chubby Boy

My kids are quite opposite when it comes to their figure and appetite. My li'l girl is so thin and doesn't like to eat much ( except for chocolates and sweet things) while my li'l boy is chubby and could eat anything.

So, for our li'l girl we seriously feed her and have to literally force her to eat while for our li'l boy, we don't even have to call him to eat but he immediately comes when see sees food and he says "Eee! Eee!" ( which means Eat, eat). If he continues to be like this when he grows up to be a young man, then maybe he'll end up so chubby and would need an appetite suppressant! LOL!

Yummy Sunday - Boh Cafe

It's yummy sunday once again and today I'm going to post the food that we have ordered when we were at the Boh Tea Plantation Cafe in Cameron Highlands. I just love that place and the food was yummy too.

Here is what we had:

Scones! It doesn't look so appealing from the outside but it is very yummy especially when it's warm and eaten in the midst of the tea plantation.

Teacino , chocolate mint flavor. This is like a tea 'cappucino'. It's actually just a 3 in one sachet but it's very delicious. I found these at the hypermarket, sold at 15 pieces per pack but I find it quite expensive. Maybe next time..:)

Apple pie. My li'l girl actually ordered this but didn't like it. I don't know why. It's actually nice and you could tell that they used fresh apples for it.

So, that's my post for today and I hope to see you next Sunday..God bless!

A Planned Surprise

My Hubby is leaving tomorrow for a conference and from there, he will fly to Nepal to conduct VBS training. All in all, he'll be gone for 12 days.

I haven't done planning for our kids activities for the next 12 days yet. I really have to think of creative ideas to entertain them and keep them occupied or else I'll be taking care of bored and cranky kids who has an 'over dose' of Playhouse Disney. I'll try to search for all kids activities online and try to implement it during the week long holiday.

But, on the other hand, I've already planned something for me. I plan to start my 12 day diet while Hubby is away. When Hubby is not in, there won't be anyone to tempt me to eat pizza or drink my favorite 3 layer tea.. so, hopefully my 12 day ( Mayo Clinic Diet) will likely be more successful. I'm very determined to finish this diet this time and surprise my Hubby (with a lighter me) when he comes back. This diet has indeed been successful for me a few years ago, but recently, I've been trying this out a few times but failed because I never got to complete the 12 day plan. So, hopefully, I'll lose my excess kilos without taking weight loss pills .

Mommy Moment's : Treasured Pictures

I'm late again..but as the saying goes, "better late than never" . :) This week's theme is "Treasured Photos". As I was going through my kids photos in Friendster ( most of their baby photos were usually stored there before),I can't help but reminisce the time when they were still so small and tiny. I sure had a lot of favorite photos but since it's already late, I just chose 2. Here are my li'l ones treasured photos.

This was Tricia's photo when she was still one year old. She looked so chubby when she was younger.

Lyle was still newly born in this photo. So, cute and tiny.

The Switch

I'm going to miss my Hubby and my netbook. They are both going to Nepal for more than a week. My netbook is also so fortunate to go to Nepal with my Hubby! LOL! How I wish I could go with them too. But I know that's not possible at this time especially, the costs to go to Nepal is quite high ( there are still no budget airlines flying there) . But I'm glad that my Hubby could go and I'm praying that he will be a blessing to the people there, especially the VBS teachers and kids.

I would still be online even without my netbook, I'll be using my Hubby's laptop then. After beeing so used to my small netbook, I find his laptop too big but not as big as desktop computers. So, my online 'career' is still on while Hubby and netbook are away. :)

Handy Manny's Give Away

" You watched Handy Manny?", my li'l girl asked me in disbelief. To those who doesn't know who or what is Handy Manny. Handy Manny is a cartoon in Playhouse Disney which shows every 11am. Obviously, I no longer watch cartoons but today was different. I was joining the contest at Playhouse Disney where they will be giving away a Handy Manny Towel set to the first 50 people who could answer the question about the episode. Contest ends on the 20th of September.

Since my li'l girl was still in school during the Handy Manny show and my li'l boy couldn't understand much of what he is watching, I didn't have a choice but to sit for 30 minutes and watch the whole episode so I can answer the question. After the show, I immediately went to their website but was dismayed that I couldn't open the page where I could answer the question. So, there goes my 30 minutes of watching cartoons for the contest. I only managed to open the site after an hour but I still answered the question for the day.

I was excited to tell my li'l girl about the contest but I guess she was more excited or surprised (?) that I watched Handy Manny for her to win the towel set. LOL! But still,I'm not sure if I was one of the first 50 people who answered the question. I better try again tomorrow and since it's a school holiday then my li'l girl will be at home so I can give her the 'task' to watch intently so, we can answer tomorow's question. :) I'm sure she's very happy to have a Mom who's into contests now. She gets to watch cartoons and a chance to get a Handy Manny give away.

On Bahasa Melayu and Translations

It was a rainy afternoon, so my kids and I went to the foyer of the church first while waiting for my Hubby to park the car and enter. A man was already inside and was playing with Lyle. I thought he was Indonesian. He spoke to me in Malay and all I could understand was 'rumah' which means house. Since I couldn't guess what he was asking me, I just had to tell him that I can't speak Malay. Then, he started to talk to me in English and asked me several questions like my nationality and how many years I've already been staying in Malaysia and why I can't speak Malay.

Yes, I'm married to a Malaysian ( of Indian descent) for 7 years but I haven't really lived here for a long time. My current stay here now is the longest at 5 months. But his question on why can't I speak Malay has struck me and made me wonder too? Why didn't I try to learn Malay? Malay is quite easy to learn. I'm sure it's much easier than Tamil ( which I can understand and speak a bit) and Thai ( which I can speak, understand and read a bit)

His question has challenged me to try to learn the Malay language. I think it'll be more embarrassing to reveal too that my li'l girl has more Malay vocabulary that I do. And to start with my Malay language learning, I'll have to ask my Hubby to teach me and do some online studies too. I've just found one site which does all the language translations from French, Spanish, German and all the languages in the world. I tried the tool and key in some french words like abris de piscine, Compte bancaire, salle bain and found out that
abris de piscine means shelters of swimming pools , Compte bancaire means bank account and salle bain means room bath . Cool!

Any by the way, the man who spoke to me in Malay is a Myanmarist and he has been here in Malaysia for only 2 years.

Friday Is A School Holiday

I've just posted earlier that next week is a school holiday here in Malaysia for the Hari Raya Celebration and I was surprised when my li'l girl came home with a 'report' that " Tomorrow, Friday is a school holiday!" WOw! So, the long school holiday became longer. :)

The government seemed to have announced it yesterday ( Wednesday) to make Friday as a school holiday. This is to prevent the roads and highways to be congested during the weekend since majority of the Malaysians will be going back to their hometowns for Hari Raya. For the Malaysians, they say " Balik Kampung" when they go back to their " Kampungs" which literally means villages.

So, since tomorrow is a school holiday for our li'l girl so, we could all sleep in and treat it like a Saturday. :)

Talking in My Dialect

I've been staying here in Taiping for a few months now and so far I haven't met a fellow Filipina yet. I'm not so sure if there are a lot of Filipinos here or maybe if there are, we could hardly tell because we all look like Malays.

I'm actually kind of missing talking in my dialect with someone. The only time I can actually 'talk' in my dialect is when I call my family back home or when I chat with with friends and family. Chatting really helps in communicating inexpensively with friends and loved ones. Other people even use this as a way to meet new friends or start relationships. west virginia chat lines is one of the chatrooms to meet singles from West Virginia.

Double Dutch Ice Cream

I was suddenly craving for ice cream this evening and I asked my Hubby to buy for me. He then asked me what flavor I wanted. I was actually craving for the Selecta's Double Dutch Ice cream but I as far as I knew, Malaysia only has the basic ice cream flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and etc. I remember being disappointed (a few years ago) to find that my favorite ice cream flavors were not available here.

Anyways, back to my ice cream craving, I teasingly told my HUbby that I want a Double Dutch flavor but I decided to see the ice cream display for myself and choose which one I like. So, I went inside the shop..and lo and behold, my eyes lit up when I saw the Wall's ( Selecta) Double Dutch Ice cream and Very Rocky Road Ice cream. WohooO!!

So, I happily took the Double Dutch Ice cream and paid the cashier. YEs!!

To The Dentist We Go

I've been delaying my dental check up for months ( take note: months!) now. But I guess it has come to a point that I must not delay anymore or else I'll end up losing my precious teeth. I've had braces when I was younger, so at that time, I would go to the dentist regularly and be assured of having 'perfect teeth'

But since I got married and had children, going to the dentist had become more of an 'emergency case' and not a regular thing. As a result, my teeth are not that perfect like Plano porcelain veneers anymore.

Daddy Holiday

The other week was my Mommy holiday in North Thailand and next week will be my Hubby's, Daddy Holiday. But it's not exactly a holiday for my Hubby because they have to conduct VBS training and do a lot of work but at least he will be able to set foot in Nepal.

Meanwhile, I'll be left alone to handle the kids for 12 days. My Hubby has successfully handled the kids for 8 days, without me so, I'm sure it's not much of a problem for me to do that. But you know what's one of my 'biggest' problem when Hubby is not around? It's the fact that I can't go out of the house. I can't confidently drive the car with the kids anywhere in the city yet ( to Tesco specifically :) ) so, I guess we'll be on 'house arrest' for 12 days! This is one difficult thing here in Malaysia, public vehicles are not that many so, it's a challenge to commute and go around. Anyways, I have to make arrangements for us to go out at least once or twice a week. Going out has been my outlet, I'm not exactly a homebody and I can't just stay in the house for several days without going out. If this happens, I'll end up being drained and cranky especially with the kids around me.

But anyways, I'm really preparing myself emotionally and mentally for this 12 day s without my Hubby. I'm also praying for God's extra grace, strength and patience especially since my kids are just so active... Let the 12 days pass by fast, Lord..:)

Of Free and Cheap Stuff

Free things are good but not necessarily the BEST. Just like for example the free business cards offered by a lot sites. They are good but you won't most likely be able to find the best design that suits your needs from that site. Meanwhile, there are some sites that has a price, an affordable price, that is, but gives you endless design possibilities for your business needs.

So personally, which one would you choose? The free site with limited designs and functions or the cheap one with unlimited designs and features? As for me, if it's for a business then I won't settle for anything less.

Wordless Wednesday 1

Hi! It's my first time here and I hope that through this meme, I'll be encouraged and be more inspired to improve on my 'photography' and learn to take beautiful shots. I've already seen some of the entries and I would say that most of their photos are awesome!

Here is my entry for this week:

Of Dirty Water and Water Filters

My li'l boy used to say "Wo wo" for water. He's a little bit fussy when it comes to his water and he immediately says " dirty wo wo " when he sees something in his water even if it's just some of the food particles from his mouth.

But I'm quite glad that even at his small age, he knows that he can't drink 'dirty wo wo'. Even if ironically he puts all the dirty things and toys inside his mouth. But that's another story.

Anyways, it's really important for us to have pure, clean drinking water. I remember the time when we were still small, that we could just drink water directly from the faucet. But now, drinking directly from the faucet is quite a risk. So, we end up buying mineral water where it goes through Water Filters to make it clean and 'drinkable'. We also have to make sure that the filtered water or mineral water that we are drinking comes from reliable sources because there are also companies that do a lot of short cuts just to save costs and earn tons of money. But not, LifeSource Water Systems, they are known to be reliable and has earned the Gold Seal Award too.

Another Long School Holiday

I wish I studied here in Malaysia when I was a student. You see, they have a lot of school holidays. Two Mondays ago was a school holiday because of the Independence Day Celebration and another Muslim event. Then last month was a 10 day school break ( more like a Semestral break for us in the Philippines). The months before that were some breaks in between too.

And next week, is going to be the Hari Raya week ( the end of Ramadan) so that's another week break for the students ( and the teachers!). Wow!

So what's our plan for the long school break? Nothing. I guess we'll just stay at home since my Hubby is going for a trip during that time. Which reminds me, I have to think of different activities for the kids during this week or else I'll end up dealing with bored, cranky kids the whole week. Any suggestions?

House Hunting

My Hubby is in Hatyai now. They were looking for a building to rent for the Center. They actually found a nice building which they all like. Nothing is finalized yet, but hopefully the owner can also lower down the monthly rent at least a bit.

Next we have to find a new house to rent in Hatyai too. I'm now agreeing to my li'l girls prayer for our soon-to-be house will have a little garden. I'm quite inspired with my mom in law's vegetable garden with new leaves and vegetables sprouting everyday. Hopefully we could find a nice, cozy house with lots of open spaces and in a quiet neighborhood. I always want to live in a house, not in an apartment or condominium type. But sometimes, I can't help but wonder how it is to live in a motorhome ( with motorhome insurance) too . It must be a bit too cramp and I may get claustrophobic. But no matter where we live, may it be a small hut or apartment, we can always make our house a "HOME" and be our perfect 'shelter'.

Tuesday Couch Potatoes- Disney Movies

I love Disney Movies which includes their Cartoon Fairytale movies. As for this week's theme, " Favorite Disney Fairy Tale Movie", I would like to choose, The Little Mermaid. It's actually one of my favorites. I could watch this movie over and over again. In fact, I still get glued to the TV whenever my li'l girl watches this. I especially love the songs and 'Ariel's' sweet singing voice.

Disney actually made this version of the story a happy ending which is good for kids.
I remember watching the same cartoon, Little Mermaid (not from Disney) when I was younger ( before my teens) but I was so sad and wasn't able to sleep well that night because the ending for that story was tragic. The mermaid-now turned human was asked to kill the prince with a knife so, she could turn back to a mermaid, but instead of killing him, she flung herself to the sea and died. I guess that story was based from the original story by Han Christian Andersen. Anyways, I'm just glad that the version that my li'l girl is watching is the Disney and "happier" one.

No Plastic Day

In an effort to save the environment, Penang has already launched it's campaign as Mondays to be a " No Plastic Day ". My Sis in law who's based in Penang has told has that most people are already quite aware of this and they bring their own bags for shopping every Monday. For those who are unprepared, they are charged 20 cents for each bag.

Reading from the Star newspaper, I've found out that now there are already over 300 hypermarkets, mini markets, departments stores and shops that are participating in this campaign. So, next time you shop in Penang on a Monday, don't be surprised that after your bought items go through the barcode scanners, the cashier won't give you free plastic bags. :)

Yummy Sunday - Waffle with Ice Cream

It's Yummy Sunday once again and it's time to drool and crave for the Yummy Food parade. :) My entry for this week, is the Waffle with Vanilla Ice cream and strawberries that we had a few weeks ago on our trip to Cameron Highlands.

The strawberries that were served were freshly picked from the strawberry farm. It was indeed a yummy treat for all of us!

Craft Time

My Hubby is preparing for his Nepal trip where they will be conducting VBS for the children. Since I can't go with him, I just helped him prepare for the VBS and looked for some crafts online which relates with their themes. There are a lot of great resources that can be found online and they're also free.

Now, we just need to buy the materials that he needs to bring there. They need to buy most of the things from Malaysia since they're not so sure if those craft materials like paper plates, paper cups, box cutter, clay and other materials are available in the places where they are going.

I just pray that my Hubby and the group will truly have a blessed trip!

Endless "Why's"

A few years ago, when our li'l girl learned to talk, the "why" questions rained down on us for quite sometime. Now that she's a bit older, she still asks a lot of "Why questions" but we were able to take a break from answering since most of the times, she answers the questions by herself.

And now, our li'l boy has grown up a bit, but even if he still can't talk fluently, he has learned to ask a lot of "Why" questions. And this time, his " WHy , Amma?", " Why APpa?" are endless!! He first asks " Why" when he sees his Ate Tricia cry, and then we tell him why..and then he asks WhY? again..and so on and so forth.. Hahahha!! Very cute but sometimes it's a bit tiring to answer a string of ' why questions' and we just end up answering.. " I don't know, Lyle!"... and then a small voice from behind still asks, " Why Amma?" . :) LOL!!]\

Online Contests And Vacations

After my free travel tour to North Thailand, I'm now more motivated to join different online contests. My travel companion and co-winner of the Gecko Go contest is also fond of joining ( and winning!) different contests. So, that's another motivating factor for me. :)

So, for the past nights my Hubby ( yes, you read it right!) and I have been searching for different contests online. There are different contest prizes too, from Vaio Laptops to free holiday trips for 2 to a destination of your choice.

If I were to choose a holiday destination, Cancun, Mexico seems like a great choice too. I've just seen some photos and info about this great place and I find it quite interesting and an ideal place for a vacation. There is even a site that offers a Cancun All Inclusive rate. Wow, imagine a vacation that's all inclusive, gourmet inclusive and etc. Mexico is actually known for it's fine beaches and beautiful resorts. A perfect getaway for couples and families. But, I'm sure we can't afford this kind of vacations, so I guess we'll just have to continuously join online contests for now.

Getting Back to Routine

My Mommy Holiday is over and now I'm getting back to my normal routine of being with the family and at the same time trying to earn money online. I'm even more encouraged to continue to join different online contests too. Remember the trip that I had was my prize for an online contest? My co-winner on the other hand is also fond of joining different contests and had even won a trip to LA, modern bedroom set make over, wines, free tickets among other things. Who knows, if I continue to try out joining different contests, I might also win more contests and get free things like free trips for my family or furniture sets! ;)

Enough of dreaming for me now. I'll have to get back to work and write my posts.

Tuesday Couch Potatoes; Suspense Thriller

Hi! This is my first time to join this movie meme! And this week's theme is Suspense Thriller. One eerie movie that is watched is the Blairwitch Project. I'm not into suspense thrillers but if I could remember it correctly, we were asked to write a review on this movie when I was in the university. So, that's the reason, we went all the way to Megamall just to watch this movie.

This movie is about 3 student filmmakers who went into the woods to shot a documentary on the urban legend, The Blair Witch. As a result they got lost in the woods and never returned. It was only a year later that this film and video was found and was made into a movie.

What was scary about the film was that you'll never know who or what was 'stalking' them and it just ended without ever knowing what happened to the students. The shoots from the camera were shaky and all you could hear were screams of terror and fear from the background.

I guess this was one movie that left me with a very heavy heart watching it. I guess, it also comes from the fact that the film was said to be the 'real' film of the students. So, until now it remains a mystery as to who or what caused the disappearance of the students.

Home Sweet Home

Wow! I'm back home with my cutie babies now! I truly thank God for a safe and wonderful trip that I had. Everything was truly smooth during the entire trip, I didn't have to use my travel insurance ( with a company that also have term life insurance quotes) nor my poncho ( raincoat) because the weather was just perfect! But even if my trip was spectacular, but I really missed my kids and Hubby during the entire trip.

When I saw them at the airport, I can't help but shed some tears ( of joy!) of finally hugging and kissing them. My li'l boy especially hugged me sooo tight and so long when he saw me. (sigh!) It's just great to be with my precious ones again.

Yummy Sunday- Thai Food Part 1

I know that this is a very delayed Yummy Sunday entry. But I would still want to share with you my Yummy dinner on my first night in Bangkok, Thailand. This is Fried Rice with Green Curry Chicken. This is one of my favorite Thai Dishes and I just love it and especially that the restaurant that we were in was a small, cozy and nicely designed one.

Another Countdown

I'm doing another countdown now. My Mommy Holiday is almost finishing and I'm just so excited to see my family again! It'll be another 2 more nights before I see my cuties. I just couldn't help but miss them throughout the trip. I'm having a wonderful time here and I truly have a lot of great 1st time experiences. I also enjoyed a lot of 'me' time and especially being able to read a couple of books. I'm excited to finish another book and hopefully I'll be able to finish it before I go back. I also need to eat more of my Thai food cravings before I go back to Malaysia. Oh, I'm not worrying about my diet (or lack of it) during this trip. I'll have to worry about this when I I get back home. Maybe then I'll have to check out some weight loss products here so, I can lose all the weight I've gained during my holiday.

Elephant Painting

I just want to share with you these Elephant Paintings. It's quite impressive that these Elephants can paint pretty pictures. These paintings are sold from 500-800 baht at the Elephant Home Gallery at the Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang.

It's Been Awhile

Yes, it's been awhile since my last post since I'm still on my North Thailand trip. We're on Day 5 right now and we have another 3 days before this wonderful trip finishes. Oh, I have so much to write but so little time to post my updates.

As a summary, we've been to the oldest temples in Thailand at the first capital, Sukhothai, we've ridden at the back of the elephants, cycled at the old city, soaked our tired feet in the hot springs, experienced harvesting mushrooms and a lot more!

So, far we've been to 4 cities and these cities are just amazing with scenic views and wonderful activities. I will show you the the photos once I get back home and get settled. It'll be nice to have these photos printed like postcards. But if you do want to have lovely postcards for all occasions you can head on to a great site that do great postcard printing for an affordable rate.

Okay, I got to go now. I'll write a more detailed post about my trip soon!
